Knights of Columbus

Holy Rosary Council 10238

Isanti, Minnesota 55040

Volume 17           Issue 8         February 2004

Greetings Brother Knights and Family;

Are you ready for Lent?  With all of our Fish Fries coming up, how about "giving up" some of your free time and lending a helping hand. On February 13, at our first fry, we served over 160 people and we know there will be more at each of the next 6.  Ask your "much better half's" to bake a cake or pie for dessert if they can.

To reflect back over the last month since our last newsletter and meeting I want to thank all of the fellow knights who helped with the Fishing Contest.  It was a great success and special thanks goes to Ron Wicht for chairing the project. Over 350 people were at the contest.  The winning fish was a 43.95 ounce (2 3/4 lb) walleye.  $400.00 in cash was given out plus a power ice auger, depth finder and Mr. Heater.  We will know the exact profit shortly but it will be around $2,500.00 including the hamburgers, french fries, brats and candy sold from our food stand (Tom Burns trailer).

Thanks also go to Ray Cronin for running the free throw contest again this year. 38 boys and 2 girls participated. We are a great council and we can all be proud of being a Knight of Columbus in the Isanti Holy Rosary Council.

If you have not sent Lyle your yearly dues, he's patiently waiting for your check!

Remember, the Knights have committed to Adoration every Friday from 6-7 pm.  Let's discuss how we cover this time period in our monthly meeting.

The State Convention is being held May 14th through the 16th in Owatonna. (Cabela's Country!)

Are you interested in being a council officer?  Our election team will be calling.  If you are interested, contact myself, Dean (763-444-4137) or Todd (763-444-6116).

The Catholic Men's Conference at St. John's is being held Saturday, February 28th.  Contact Kent (763-444-5591) if you would like to car pool.

"BLITZ" March has been designated for an order wide membership recruitment Blitz.  Talk to our fellow parishioners about joining and pass their names to Todd or myself.  We need at least two more new members to qualify for a Star Council award.

Ole is quite a joker.  On the few occasions that he takes Lena out for dinner he invariably asks the waitress, "do you have HONEYMOON SALAD?"    WAITRESS:  What is honeymoon salad?  OLE:  "LETTUCE ALONE"!
