Greetings Brother Knights and Family;

Who said –“it’s summertime and the livin’ is easy” - not us – the Knights are busy with activities.  I just got back from our six month planning meeting for the balance of 2004.  We have a lot going on and a lot to look forward to.  This is my first newsletter and I want to open with a big thank you to the exiting officers from these past two years.  Special thanks goes out to our past Grand Knight, Dean Carpenter, for putting in countless hours of work as Grand Knight and making these past two years very successful for us. Thank you Dean!  And, thanks to Dean's wife Annette for all her support.

Let’s not forget to welcome our new incoming officers and ask God’s help in guiding our paths through another successful term.

Saturday, July 17th is the church landscaping project.  Mike Westhoff and a crew of Knights will be serving breakfast at 8:30 a.m. to any parishioner coming to help with the project.  Don’t forget to bring your landscaping tools.

Our next regularly scheduled meeting is set for Thursday, July 22nd, 2004 at St. Elizabeth’s.  See you there.

The rodeo was a lot of fun.  The food booth was busy and if you see Tom Burns thank him and Andrea for all their hard work and dedication in making our Church Food booth a success.  $7,000 plus profit, WOW! We thank all those who pitched in on this project!  During the rodeo the Knights sponsored the youth group in the outhouse races.  We lost our first two heats and were eliminated early - but the team had a great time, and it’s entertaining to watch!  People are already talking about a new racer for next year.

We need people to help at the upcoming Pine County Demolition Derby on Saturday, August 7th. A sign up sheet will be available this Sunday, August 18th and at our meeting on the 22nd.  This is a great way to partner with other KC councils and it puts funds in our bank account.  Please sign up.  We need 6 to 8 people from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the main food booth and 20 plus from 6:00 to?? in the arena.  Husband and wife teams welcome, come and have a great time.  If you have any questions you can call the project coordinator, Scott Skalicky. (763) 434-8841

On Saturday, August 14th, we will be holding our KC Family picnic.  This year, Vic and Jackie Bennett have graciously agreed to host our family picnic.  Food will be provided as in the past.  See invite enclosed with this newsletter.

It is my pleasure to announce the two recipients of the Knights of Columbus Richard P Lee Memorial Scholarship.  The two recipients were:  Amanda Cameron, daughter of James and Brenda Cameron of Isanti, and Brandon Lauseng, son of Buck and Janice Lauseng of Cambridge.  Congratulations to them both and we the Knights wish you the best of success in your educational journey!

On the weekend of August 28th the Minnesota Knights of Columbus is having the 10th Annual Family Camporee.  All Knights and families are invited and the Camporee will be held at the St. Cloud Campground and RV Park.

That’s it for now.  Thanks for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting – July 22nd.
