Greetings Brother Knights and Family;

The frost is on the pumpkins and the hay is in the barn.  Fall activities are here with Halloween right around the corner.  Speaking of Halloween, October 31st will mark the changing of daylight savings and it’s the day of the drawing for the “Fall Classic.”  Joe Mau has lots of tickets – so see Joe for more tickets. Sell, Sell, Sell…

Another worthy cause is the food drive, which started on the 9th of October and runs through 20th of November.  All it takes is a little help from all of us and we can help those in need!

At our September regular meeting we had an outstanding guest speaker.  His name is Don Bania and he is a quadriplegic.  Don is very positive about his own situation and candidly told us his own personal story and on how being handicapped has affected his life in many wonderful ways.  Don is a strong advocate for a program called “Wheels for the World”.  It’s a program where an organization like ours gathers up old wheelchairs not in use or in disrepair.  These wheelchairs are sent to a Denver prison where prison labor totally refurbishes the chair.  The new chair is then shipped to a recipient in a third world country who is in need.  Several recipients were interviewed on the video Don showed and it was extremely moving as to how these chairs changed the lives of these people.  It is a great cause and I think we could be successful at finding chairs from this area.  I will bring it up at the next regular meeting.

Our pancake breakfast was successful - the free will offering brought in $591.00.  There was plenty of help after the 8:30 a.m. Mass and after the 10:30 Mass.  Thanks to everyone who also stayed to help with the clean up.  Thanks again to all those who helped us out.  A special thanks to Tom Burns and his crew for taking down the big Seton Fest (outside) structure.  Our next pancake breakfast will be on December 12th with Santa Claus.  He plans on bringing a few treats for all the kids and maybe an adult or two.

The quarterly meeting and the Highway pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, October 23rd.  The meeting starts at 8:00 a.m. and highway pick-up will follow.  Lunch will be provided after we get done be sure to asked everyone you know to come out and help.  Many hands make light work!

Turkey Bingo will be held on Sunday, November 21st in the social hall at the church.  Plan on helping or bring the family and play at this fun event.  We’ll be playing for turkeys and will have lots of door prizes to give out in between games.  We will again this year have goodies for sale before and during bingo.  Come early and enjoy a bowl of chili.  Please come and tell someone else about it.  See you there!
